Nikko 7.2V Ni-Cd Battery Pack and Charger Substitution

RC Hobby Explosion has been the official battery supplier of Nikko batteries since their American distribution center went out of business in 2008. Some of the original Nikko battery packs, such as the 7.2V NiCd plug-in version, have now sold out. Not to worry, though, as we have teamed with a top battery manufacturer to provide our Nikko battery customers an RC Hobby Explosion 7.2V battery that has comparable specs, size, voltage, run-time and shape as the original Nikko 7.2V plug-in battery (Nikko #1272). In fact, this battery has a nice advantage as it is a NiMH battery, which is a more current battery technology that has a higher energy density and reduced memory effect. The charger we include with this combo, however, will charge both NiCd and NiMH batteries. See "NiMH Notes" below for important information regarding NiMh batteries.

This replacement combo set includes the new 7.2V NiMh battery and a NiMh/NiCd charger that charges the battery in about 4 hours.

NiMH NOTES:

Many years ago, NiCd batteries were essentially phased out and replaced by NiMH chemistry batteries as they offer a number of advantages over NiCd:

• Higher Energy Density: NiMH batteries have a higher energy density compared to Ni-Cd batteries, allowing them to store more energy per unit of weight or volume.
• Environmental Safety: NiMH batteries do not contain toxic heavy metals like cadmium, making them more environmentally friendly and easier to recycle.
• Reduced Memory Effect: NiMH batteries exhibit a much lower memory effect than Ni-Cd batteries, allowing for more flexible charging cycles without significant capacity loss.
• Good Performance in Various Temperatures: These batteries perform well across a range of temperatures, making them suitable for automotive and other outdoor applications.
• Longer Cycle Life: NiMH batteries can endure many charge-discharge cycles, providing a longer operational lifespan compared to some other rechargeable battery types.

PLEASE NOTE that your original Nikko NiCd chargers will NOT charge NiMH batteries. So if you still own an original Nikko NiCd charger, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CHARGE THIS NIMH BATTERY WITH AN ORIGINAL NIKKO NICD CHARGER. This could be very dangerous and could lead to fire, personal injury, and other perils.
